i've been LJ-absent for quite a while, so here's an update of sorts:
New CTRLSHFT is blazing along. i think you'll like this. not done yet, but finally making some real headway. starting to get a hang of how to efficiently utilize a studio that has began creeping outside of the digital domain and integrating analog hardware into my music as a whole. 's taken a while to make it feel right. FYI a good compressor will go a long way. :)
with that in mind, new-ish studio goodies (pictures soon probably)!:
non-music: started playing GTA:SA again for no particular reason really enjoying venture bros. really pining for grindhouse dvds need new job apparently going to poland next year
(Klaus Schulze. this particular live piece: sounds like lots of scary analog lsd-freakout synth drone stuff. think Cronenberg's Scanners, kinda.)
---- Moog newness: in other news. i preordered my Moog MF-107 through novamusik the other day. let the unknown ship-date-waiting commence! can't wait for it! 3 VCO LP, modular capabilities my setup has yet to fully traverse, env follower outs, fm mod for nasty 00ntz and vox, etc etc. very psyched! :)
in other moogy news: new Moog LP OS 1.03 comes out ~this week! NEW S&H and Noise modulation, tons of great new MIDI assignment abilities, free-range over pot mapping (tweaking cutoff and res at the same time is now totally do-able), not to mention a cool new tuning/re-calibration tool. hats off to them supporting their new product in a BIG way. I can only imagine what else is in store. anyone in the market for a new monosynth should seriously consider this over a relic on ebay. seriously.

Future-Retro on the horizon: The Future Retro XS. A semi-modular synth made in the likeness of the MS-20, lots of suprises though. it is going to be incredible. prelim specs here! click on the youtube flick, theres 4 more vid clips up of the same demonstration. Biiiiiig Basstm.
-----
Dave Smith Instruments in the future: From Winter NAMM show '07, Dave Smith presents his up and coming ''BoomChik'', a 4 osc ANALOG DRUM MACHINE! no big news yet, but click on the pic for a bigger image and dream about it for a while. this could potentially kick jomox's butt, knowing FULL well of what the diminutive powerhouse "Evolver" is capable of. this should be intensely cool. hopefully it'll be a reality for 2008! ----
this is going to be a great year for analog synths.
oh yeah, and CTRLSHFT is coming along awesomely. i can't wait to share the new album with you. more posts on developments with that as they come, i've got work to do. ;)
