Greetings
my name is Phoenix, and I have been "going raw" for about 6 months. I realllllly want to do this , but am finding it incrediably difficult for reasons I dont quite understand, but only ably to justify it by saying , perhaps cooked foods are alot like a drug? just putting that out there. I am hoping to run into some people who can help and support each other on this life change, that I know HAS to happen.
in peace

CROOKED LITTLE VEIN Reviewed At AICN [Jul. 23rd, 2008|09:34 pm]

warren_ellis

My editor just sent me a link to a review of CROOKED LITTLE VEIN at Ain’t It Cool News, coinciding with the paperback release.  AICN would be pretty much the last place I’d expect to get reviewed.  I haven’t read it yet, but, still, very nice of them to take the time, I thought…

It feels so good to have my baby back... [Jul. 23rd, 2008|11:16 am]

[Current Mood | energetic]

After working 5 days in a row...12 hour shifts with an hour drive each way, Skot is finally home.

He usually sneaks in anytime after 6am, and I woke up around 7:30 looking for a cuddle. I had to come downstairs and snuggle him into bed.

I don't mind it when he is gone, as I have plenty of things to do. (And to be honest I still haven't even really dug into all those "So you think you can dances" that I have Tivo'd)
But it will be so nice to have him home.

I'm still planning on doing my 7 day stretch of yoga this week. And once my trial ebay post completes, I will be posting everything. I'm sure Skot will spend a few days working on music, since that is his passion. And I hope to plan another fun day at the Dells, I'm considering either a day at Mt. Olympus, an overnight at one of the indoor/outdoor waterparks, or a day downtown dells and a Duck ride. And perhaps squeeze in a hike to devils lake, or other state park as well.

This morning I had a very artistic dream. I made two huge murals with the help of my cousin Leah.
Then I came up with an idea to make custom make floor pillows/mats, for pets & household.
I think once I have a house I'll have to get myself a sewing machine and see if I can do anything with it, after all I did take home-ec in the 8th grade. (1988) LOL!

I'm off to yoga - Peace out

twilight the movie

i haz sekret crush on edward

at least this time i finished the book before the movie came out.

i can honestly say, i kinda like the series so far. i just started book 2 and i kinda really like the pg-13 feel it has. i'm SOOOOOO tired of stupid wampire soft core p0rn books *cough* laurel k hamilton *cough* and it's a nice change of pace to be reading something with some innocence to it - totally playing up the vampire myth i love...sorta like interview with the vampire & vampire lestat novels from anne rice...

World Wide Week 2008 [Jul. 23rd, 2008|04:57 pm]

warren_ellis

Someone asked me yesterday, "why do you do the thing with the self portraits?" And it’s like this: because people forget that there are other people on the other end of the internet. People forget that they’re side by side with other people every time they visit a website, that they’re talking with real people every time they post a comment. It’s too easy for people to let everyone become anonymous on the net. I don’t like that. This whole thing is made out of people. Once a year, I like to remind you.

Also, this site has always attracted interesting-looking people. Oh, and second row, far right — that’s comics writer/artist Brandon Graham. I think one of his first paid gigs would have been on a TRANSMETROPOLITAN page, in TALES OF HUMAN WASTE.

I was just wondering if it is considered safe to eat ripe plantains raw? I have done it the past few days and nothing bad has happened but I wasn't sure if there is something I should know before I continue or make this a habit. Thanks alot! :)

GRAVEL: Scriptment Writing [Jul. 23rd, 2008|04:25 pm]

warren_ellis

On the horror serial GRAVEL, I work in a style called "scriptment." It’s partway between a full script and a "treatment," or detailed synopsis. It’s not quite a short story, not a Marvel-style outline, neither fish nor fowl nor arse eel. This thing then goes to Mike Wolfer, who adapts it into a full script. Some people have asked how much of GRAVEL is me and how much is Mike. Here’s the opening of the scriptment for GRAVEL #3, out in store this week:

* * * * *

GRAVEL
3
"ON ILKLEY MOOR BAHT’ AT"
22PP
WARREN ELLIS

OPEN ON: A TRAIN cutting through England in the morning.

Inside: in an otherwise empty carriage, William Gravel on the phone, his kitbag next to him on the seat.

Gravel: "…yes, she’s dead too. But you know that, or else you wouldn’t be asking me what’s next. Listen, I’m in no mood for stupid fucking games. I think it’s time you told me who you are."

Phone: "William, old sock. I understand you’ve been busy, but you’re really not thinking, are you?"

Gravel: "Yeah, and I didn’t go to fucking university or learn how to flex me arsehole for the pleasure of my betters. So I’m hanging up now."

Phone: "Who benefits from the Sigsand Manuscript being collected and reconstituted, Gravel?"

Gravel: "Me, with a bit of luck. Bye."

He switches the phone off, tosses it in his kitbag.

Pissed off, he settles back, looks out the window at the trees and fields.

A voice from off: "Shite, ennit? Southern England looks like it were made by fucking Lego."

"Aah, I dunno about that. I mean, rather here that up fucking north, know what I mean?"

And then he realises that he was alone.

Looks around.

And SYKES is sitting opposite him. SYKES is a very old man, but his hair’s still black. Dressed in a heavy, thick black jacket, a thick blue sweater under it, a black scarf, black trousers and heavy boots. He always has a tall shepherd’s crook in his hand, which he uses like a walking staff. Very very pale — the only colour in him is his blue eyes and the blue sweater, cobalt blue.

Gravel can only breathe "…Sykes." He is almost frightened. Certainly surprised.

"Aye. Sykes it is. I thought it were time we had a talk, Bill."

Gravel’s hand steals into his kitbag, closing around his gun inside there.

"A talk? Or another shot at killing me."

"Nay, I’ve got no trouble with thee, William Gravel, so you let go of your gun there. I want to talk."

He stands up. "But not down here. I get a rash on me privates if I come further south than Watford Gap. Come home to Yorkshire with me."

Gravel closes his hand around his kitbag, standing. "Listen, you’re here now, let’s just walk up to the buffet car, get a couple of pints and talk there…"

And suddenly he’s standing up on a blasted bleak Yorkshire moor under a sky that’s grey and black.

"…shit."

And Sykes turns away from him, walking across the moor. He sings:

"Where hast thou been since I saw thee? On Ilkley Moor baht ’at.

“On Ilkley Moor baht ’at! On Ilk-ley Moor bah-t’at…"

Gravel makes a face. "Do what?"

Sykes: "It’s a song, Bill. The oldest song I know. On Ilkley Moor baht ’at."

Gravel: "Does it translate into English, you Yorkshire bastard?

random stuff is stuff that is random [Jul. 23rd, 2008|04:34 am]

tacohunter
Today I must do a load of laundry.

I've been thinking about FINALLY getting my passport ... I originally resolved to get one back in january and kept putting it off, I've been thinking about it a lot this week, so maybe now is the time. If not today, definitely tomorrow.

My sleep schedule is still off. Passing out in the early evening and waking up at 2am is not fun, especially when I'm sitting here fiending for a decent cup of coffee and I don't want to make any myself because any coffee that gets brewed through my cheap maker comes out tasting like bitter ass. At least my sleeping patterns, while erratic and inconvenient, are predictable.

Its Caeti's birthday today, last night I bought her dinner and tonight I'm going to get her drunk, preferably drunk enough so that she will sing karaoke. I wish I could sing something from Dr. Horrible's Sing-A-Long Blog tonight, but its really too new, they don't even have plans for a soundtrack CD release yet.

Work is still my #1 priority in life. I've got a week coming up where I'm only scheduled for 3 days, so I guess I'll be adding a few shifts that week. (Both of my bosses at work told me I could always add night shifts to my scheule if I wanted more hours, just as long as I don't exceed 40 hours in a week. I've only gone in for extra time once before.)

I realized yesterday that I shouldn't bring my laptop to work anymore, not because its uncouth but because I never really get anything done while I'm at work. I resolved to finish one page of writing while I was there and I only got a half a page done. I used to think I was just being distracted, but the truth is I have phones to answer and customers to serve so doing something on the side isn't going to be productive.

As I was typing this I took a picture of myself... I swear, my hair is black, brown, blonde or red depending only on what part of my head it is growing out of.

I'm looking forward to Thursday. I guess I felt a lot more optimistic about having a gaming group three weeks, then for the last two weeks I've felt downtrodden because ... well, let's just not go into the because, I lost potential players who said they were interested in playing but apparently they weren't really interested in playing ... anyway, I'm no longer feeling bad about it, I'm just moving on.
